Counselling in York, offered with warmth, care and genuine understanding

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to turn next, you’re not alone. This is a space where you can slow down, talk openly, and be met with empathy and respect — exactly as you are.

My approach is person‑centred, which means you set the pace. Your experiences, feelings, and hopes guide our work together. I’m here alongside you, offering gentle support as you explore what’s going on and what you need.

I can support you with:

  • Anxiety, stress, and constant overthinking
  • Low mood, sadness, or emotional heaviness
  • Relationship or family difficulties
  • Self‑doubt, self‑criticism, or feeling “not enough”
  • Life changes, uncertainty, or feeling lost

When you’re ready, we can talk things through.

Book a free 30‑minute consultation to get a sense of how it might feel to work together and decide whether this is the right step for you.

Ready to start your therapeutic journey?

I offer person centred counselling with some integrative creative work to help you explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour and world view, so you can become more self aware and develop effective coping strategies to reach your full potential so you can start to feel more in control.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I change” – Carl Rogers

I currently offer all counselling formats on weekdays and online only on evenings and weekends.

Online Counselling

1-1 counselling delivered over the internet via video call, or by phone. A flexible way of receiving the benefits of therapy from the comfort of your own home. Video calls require an internet connection and access to a screen on a smart phone/tablet/laptop and a quiet space. Sessions work the same as traditional face to face with the same benefits of feeling heard and understood in a non-judgmental safe space, the only difference being this is done through a screen.

Online counselling offers accessibility, flexibility of fitting around lifestyle and work, and less restriction on finding a counsellor local to you. Ideal for those who are unable to travel, or need the flexibility to be at home.

Face to Face Counselling

Sessions are conducted one on one in a comfortable private room in the centre of York.

Face to face counselling offers a distraction-free setting which promotes focus and the physical presence of a counsellor provides grounding and a connection making it easier to process difficult emotions.

The room is situated on Nunnery Lane close to public transport links including York train station, and a nearby public car park.

Walk & Talk Counselling

Sessions are conducted one on one by walking side by side in an outdoor environment. The calming presence of nature and exercise can reduce anxiety, promote clear thinking and improve mood.

Why walk? studies show exercise can reduce depression symptoms, stress & anxiety and increase in cognitive function, mood and endorphins. Advantages of walking while talking during the session is a better regulation of emotions, physical health benefits, and connection with the world (nature reminds us we are human). The side by side set up can feel less intimidating with less eye contact. Ideal for those who prefer to move & live local to York.
